Arizona black businesses reached a preliminary total of 10,069 by 2007, according to the Survey of Business Owners, up from 6,330 counted in 2002. This represented a 59.1 percent increase.
Revenues grew more slowly to $634 million in 2007 from $530 million in 2002, up 19.6 percent.

The Silicon Ceiling 13 report finds:

Close to six percent of black Arizonans in the labor force are in computer, engineering and

science professions, just over three percent in computer professions.

There were 78 black graduate students in science, compared to 1,307 foreign graduate science students. The total number of black college and graduate students in Arizona in 2006 was 19,310.  This is a state where Ward Connerly is pushing an initiative to ban affirmative action.
