Westside names Dr. Jones CEO

After an intensive search by the Executive Search Committee, the Board of
Directors of Westside Community Services, Inc. has selected Dr. Mary Ann Jones
as its next Chief Executive Officer, to officially start on September 27, 2010.
As a clinical psychologist with experience providing decisive leadership in
community mental health, Dr. Jones has earned a reputation as a pioneer,
innovator, educator, and visionary leader in community-based mental health and
human services program development.
Dr. Jones’s resume is impressive. She brings to the CEO position over twenty
years of knowledge and experience as a clinician and administrator in senior
management positions. She has provided leadership in multiple service areas in
behavioral health, including mental health care, substance abuse treatment,
residential treatment services, and HIV-AIDS.
Dr. Jones is no stranger to Westside Community Services. As a former Director
of Clinical Services at Westside, she left her imprint on the Westside service
delivery system. In addition to her clinical and administrative leadership, she
oversaw the development of new programs from conceptualization to
implementation; the Jenka Mji HIV-AIDS Family Therapy Program; the Ajani
Afro-centric Family Therapy Program, and the Southeast Partnership for Health,
Center for Excellence (COE) HIV Services Program. She also developed and
implemented the Critical Mass Conductors Program in San Francisco, the first
program of its kind funded by the Bay Area Black United Fund.
Dr. Jones’s reputation extends beyond San Francisco and the Bay Area. She is
known nationally and internationally for her work on cross-cultural health and
HIV-AIDS. Her dedication to women’s issues such as sexual and domestic violence
earned her recognition by Governor Jeb Bush of Florida. She has traveled
extensively (Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean) as an evaluator and clinical
research consultant.
