Old school in the new school

One of the tenets of culturally-responsive instruction is an engaging instructional environment. After our Potrero Progress creed this morning, we decided to adopt a morning song for our public health investigators.
There was no better choice than Allen Toussaint’s “I Know We Can Make It” popularized by the Pointer Sisters.
Only a couple of our teens remembered the song, so they’ve got some learning to do.
However, we’re also ending our sessions with “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now” by McFadden and Whitehead. More of them remember that.
Charged up with the spirit, they whizzed through the periodic table and took a swing at Dr. Juan Gilbert’s City Stroll integrated learning system.
